Songs About Depression: The Ones I Wrote to Get Through It
September 4, 2026
People search for songs about depression because hearing someone else put it into words helps. That's the whole reason I put mine into songs. These are the ones that came most directly out of it.
I Don't Wanna Go (2024) is the most honest one. It came out of a stretch of isolating and numbing everything, one day at a time. The lines aren't metaphors, they're how those days actually felt. The full story is in its own post.
Fly Away (2025) is the most direct thing I've written about not wanting to be here anymore. I sang it with no plan and no filter and kept the parts that were most true. The story behind it is on the blog too.
Nevermore (2026) is about fighting through a dark stretch while still wanting something good in your life, and being scared to reach for it. It ends better than it starts, because that part is true too. Here's the story.
All three have their full lyrics on their song pages, along with everywhere to stream them.
If you're in that place right now, you're not alone in it, and things can get better even when it feels impossible. Talking to someone helps more than it seems like it will. In the US you can call or text 988 any time, day or night.
